NEW EXHIBITION & EXPERIENCE
The FIFA World Football Museum turns the spotlight on the global phenomenon that is eSports with a new addition to the permanent exhibition. In ‘eFootball: the Virtual Pitch’ visitors discover the eFootball universe through interactive exhibits that showcase video games and tournaments. The the first six month after the opening the exhibition was accompanied by an experience zone where visitors got to test their own eFootball skills in gaming pods, play vintage games and enter the world of virtual reality. Visitors were able to participate in our cultural programme, which offered a diverse range of entertaining events focused on eFootball.

eFootball is a compelling part of global football culture. The boundary between simulation and reality is becoming increasingly blurred and every day around the world, millions of living rooms are transformed into virtual pitches. The exhibition presents how the FIFA series and FIFA’s eFootball tournaments are part of the global phenomenon that is eSports.
A permanent addition to the museum
With hundreds of millions of fans living out their passion for the beautiful game virtually, eFootball is here to stay. The new exhibition ‘eFootball: the Virtual Pitch’ takes its place as a valuable permanent addition to the FIFA World Football Museum.
THE eFOOTBALL UNIVERSE
In the eFootball universe, gamers compete individually, as members of eSports teams and in national teams. In a wide range of tournaments, the highest individual prize is awarded at the FIFA eWorld Cup™. Get to know the different FIFA tournaments and champions and take a selfie with the biggest prize in eFootball: the FIFA eWorld Cup Trophy.
The FIFA Series
The 1993 release of EA Sports’ FIFA International Soccer brought FIFA’s name to the genre of football video games. Follow the evolution of the FIFA series from a 16-bit game to a high definition simulation that transforms millions of living rooms around the globe into virtual pitches and played a key role in the development of eSports.
INTERACTIVE STATIONS
Technological developments are closing the gap between real life and the virtual world. Discover how the appearance of footballers in the game changed over time and let yourself be transported into the game to celebrate a goal with the stars. Take deep dive into the fascinating world of eFootball in our immersive video installation.
Experience
Interactive experience zone
To celebrate the new exhibition, an interactive experience zone is open from 16 July 2020 to 3 January 2021. Visitors of all ages can test their own eFootball skills, enter the world of virtual reality and participate in the FIFA Museum’s very own FIFA20 tournament. The entry to the experience zone is free.
Let's PLAY
The interactive experience zone gives all visitors the chance to play and compete against each other. Feel like a world champion in special gaming pods, inspired by the pods at the FIFA eWorld Cup™. Enjoy the virtual reality and participate in one of the many activities and events organised by the museum.
VINTAGE GAMING AND VR
Football videogames haven’t always been the high definition simulation that are today. Take a journey back in time and test your console skills on past and present versions of the FIFA series. Or, put on a headset and enter the world of virtual reality.
FIFA 20 Tournament: The FIFA Museum eCup
To celebrate the new exhibition, the FIFA Museum is holding its own FIFA 20 tournament: The FIFA Museum eCup. Play online for a spot in one of the qualifying tournaments live at the museum. The best 8 players from those tournaments will enter the Grand Final to battle it out for the big prize.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
In addition to immersing in the exhibition and showing off individual eFootball skills, visitors can participate in many activities and events around eFootball. Learn about game design and motion capture, take a look back at the predecessors of the PlayStation and discuss the impact of eFootball on football, society and culture with our experts.
